The level of Oracle's annual support and maintenance charges are often a source of concern and complaint on the part of customers.


Very few Oracle customers seem to believe they get value for money for their annual payments. In reality, many do get great value, particularly when new releases of software are deployed at no additional charge. Many users are however, over paying, mainly due to legacy purchase agreements, previous migrations on unfavourable terms and products that are no longer used or required.


The Oracle Support policy is strict and it is difficult to navigate a path to realise a saving. Nonetheless, it is possible for some. With annual savings of 30% or more being achieved. It all depends on what you have, how you purchased in the past and what you want to use going forward.
